Observations/Finding

AS Engineering and Consulting, LLC (ASEC) visited the site at the contractor’s request to observe soil excavations for the dam. The excavation exposed soft micaceous silty materials underlain by clayey medium to coarse sands.  Our representative recommended to the contractor to continue excavation until the clayey sand layer was achieved.

Reddish brown sandy silt with clay was used to backffill the excavated areas. Before leaving the site, the contractor began stockpiling fill soils next to the remaining area that needed to be excavated.
