Observations/Finding

As requested by CWM James Higgins, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative noted above, for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to assure compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

Site Observations:

Contractor continued work on I-Line between I3-I4, and the ravine area around STA 409+00 of the taxiway, and the Localizer pad. Fill was placed and compaction testing requested.

Fill that was placed on the Localizer pad did not meet job specifications for compaction and was found to have large boulders that required removal. The contractor was working on removing the rocks and continuing to re-compact the area.

Density testing was performed using a Troxler nuke gauge (#3430, serial #29588).

Density testing results:
P3 Proctor – 118.8 pcf @ 13.0%

T1 – elevation 985.9, 30′ north of I3, P3, DD 111.7, M%16.0, compaction 94.0%
