Observations/Finding

The undersigned ASEC representative was on site as requested to observe soil placement within the dam keyway and to perform compaction testing as needed to check quality and control of work.  Visual observation techniques were employed to evaluate work in-place for
general compliance with the Project Plans, Specifications, Codes and Standards and Material Submittals.

• CGU contractors were on the job site. CGU contractors excavated soil from the zone shown on attached Image 1. Soils were classified on-site as a red, sandy silt with some clay.
• Soils were found to be below optimum moisture content and water was added after each lift.
• After moisture contents were increased, the soils where recompacted and density tests were taken.  All tests taken were found to meet job specifications for compaction.  Test locations are marked on the attached image.
