Observations/Finding
The site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to assure compliance with project drawings/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were made on site today:
Upon arrival at Riverwalk Manor (at Nature walk) it was observed that soil was being placed at the future lots of #421, 3422, & 3423 and the roadway (N 1466.4;E 2100981) at an approximate elevation of 846. A Komatsu 51 PXI dozer, Caterpillar 815F compactor, & 745 off road dump trucks were used. Two lifts of 12-18 inches were completed. A discussion was had with the operator in regard to a maximum lift thickness of 12-inches and removal of large amounts of organic material. A 3/8 inch probe rod was used with a penetration of 3 to 8 inches in depths. The operator was requested to provide additional compactive effort. Off road dump trucks were used for additional compaction. (see photos)
Simultaneously, our representative observed that topsoil was moved to various slopes around the development.
At 2 pm a rain event occurred and further work for the day was cancelled.
