Observations/Finding
As requested the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services, visual observation techniques were employed to assure compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.
Contractor continued backfill and compaction for Lots #422, 423, 424,426,427,428 and the roadway.
Upon arrival, work was already in progress with the contractor placing excessively thick lifts (16 inches).
The soils observed on this date did not appear to be placed in accordance with job specifications due to excessive lift thicknesses. Contractor was notified.
Density testing was performed using a Troxler nuclear gauge (#3430, serial #85759).
Density test results indicate that the compacted material met the project requirement of 90% of the maximum dry density obtained by the (Standard Proctor ASTM 698).
