Observations/Finding

Our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative visited the Carodel Farms site to conduct quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to ensure compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were made on-site:

  1. Backfill of the Storm Water Detention Pond 1A: The contractor carried out the placement and compaction of the backfill for the storm water detention pond 1A. The quality control representative visually inspected the backfill operations and confirmed that they were performed in accordance with project requirements. No issues were noted during the observation. sheet c.0.1
  2. The contractor placed backfill on Lots #58, 57, 56, and 55.  Density tests were performed on Lot #58.  The depth of placement was 3 feet below finished grade and compacted using a compactor CP 56B. The testing result indicated that the compaction met project requirements of 92% of the maximum dry density obtained by the ASTM D698-12 standard method.
  3. Placement of topsoil near Detention Pond 1B: The contractor placed topsoil adjacent to Detention Pond 1B. Sheet C.0.1
  4. Blasting of Drilled Rock: The driller conducted rock blasting in the areas where drilling had been performed. The quality control representative observed the blasting operations and noted that they were carried out safely and in compliance with applicable safety protocols. No incidents or concerns were observed during the blasting process.
