Observations/Finding

Our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative visited the Carodel Farms site to conduct quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to ensure compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were made on-site:

  1. Installation of manhole A-8: The contractor installed manhole A-8 with 4 inches of #57 stone placed at the base prior to placing the manhole. The quality control representative visually inspected the installation and verified that it met the project requirements (Sheet no C6.2).
  2. Installation of HDPE Pipe: Between manhole C-1 and manhole A-8, the contractor installed HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene) pipe. Before placing the pipe, the contractor prepared the bottom with 4 inches of #57 stone followed by an additional 4-inch layer following pipe installation. The quality control representative visually assessed the installation and confirmed that it was executed according to the project specifications. Sheet no C6.2
  3. Backfilling Operations: The contractor placed backfill in the open space zone x and for Lots #37,38,39,40 and 41. Density testing was performed for fill placed on Lots #39,40,41, at 1 foot below finished grade. Soils were compacted using a CP56 compactor.  Testing results indicated that the compaction met the project requirements of 92%of maximum dry density obtained by the ASTM D698-12 standard method. (Test 1; WD:111.2, DD:86.3, M%:28.9)
    (Test 2 WD:117.1, DD:92.2, M%:27.0), (Test 3 WD:111.1, DD:91.1, M%:21.9).
  4. Blasting of drilled rocks: The driller conducted rock blasting on areas where drilling had been performed on Thursday and Friday. the quality control representative observed the blasting operation and noted that were carried out safely and in compliance with applicable safely protocols.
