Observations/Finding

The undersigned ASEC representative was on-site on September 22, 2023, to visually evaluate soil conditions in the northwestern area of the site where the road will be constructed, as well as the area behind Lots #064 to 068. The objective was to assess the soil conditions and provide engineering recommendations for material removal and potential fill areas.

Soil Evaluation in Northwestern Area for Road Construction

Soil Description

  • Brown to tan Sandy CLAYs with organic materials/roots in the upper 6 to 8 inches.
  • Some roots ranged from 3 inches up to 24 inches in size and/or diameter.
  • The root matter was not volumetrically significant within the measured area.
  • Approximate dimensions: 27 feet by 77 feet.

Engineering Recommendations

  • Advised removal of the organic materials and roots.
  • A soil sample was taken from cleaner areas (areas with low root matter present) for a Moisture-Density Relationship (proctor), as these soils will be used in some fill areas.

Soil Evaluation in Area Behind Lots #064 to 068

Soil Description

  • The soils were filled with topsoil and organic materials down to a depth of 2 feet.

Engineering Recommendations

  • The soils in this area are directly adjacent to a future road and should be further evaluated for suitability as fill material.

Additional Compaction Tests on Lots #110 and #111

Two tests were performed on Lots #110 and 111. However, as a proctor is not available yet, compaction percent cannot be calculated at this time. The resulting data for the tests were as follows:

  • Test on Lot #110:
    • Moisture Content: 17.6%
    • Dry Density: 89.3 pcf
    • Wet Density: 105.9 pcf
  • Test on Lot #111:
    • Moisture Content: 19.8%
    • Dry Density: 90.7 pcf
    • Wet Density: 109.5 pcf

Visual Documentation and Soil Samples

  • The areas inspected are marked on the attached drawing for further clarification.
  • Soil samples have been taken and will be delivered for further analysis.
