Observations/Finding

  1. Introduction:  a site visit was conducted by a representative from AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) to provide quality control inspection and testing services. The purpose of the visit was to verify compliance with project drawings/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. Visual observation techniques were employed during the visit.
  2. Site Visit Details:

    • Attendees: ASEC Representative, Project Superintendent
  3. Observations: During the site visit, the following observations were made: a. Initial Site Visit and Meeting: An initial meeting was held with the Fritz representative and project superintendent to discuss project progress and ongoing activities. b. Silt Fence Installation: It was observed that silt fence installation was in progress. The silt fence serves as an erosion control measure to prevent sediment runoff during construction activities. c. No Testing Completed: No testing activities were completed during the site visit as no backfilling operations were being performed at the time.
  4. Discussion: a. Progress Review: The meeting with the project superintendent provided insights into the progress of the project.  b. Testing Plan: The absence of backfilling operations prevented the completion of testing during the visit. It was agreed to schedule testing activities at a later stage of the project when backfilling commences.
  5. Recommendations: Based on the observations and discussions, the following recommendations are made: a. Schedule Testing: Coordinate with the project team to schedule testing activities at an appropriate stage of the project, such as when backfilling operations are initiated. b. Monitor Compliance: Ensure ongoing compliance with project specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals throughout the project duration.
  6. Conclusion: The site visit provided valuable insights into the progress of the project, including the installation of the silt fence. Testing activities were not completed during the visit due to the absence of backfilling operations.
