Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services.  Visual observation techniques were employed to observe compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

1. Equipment in Operation:
   • 2 excavators
   • Water truck
   • Trench packer
   • Caterpillar vibratory sheeps-foot compactor (CP44)
2. Sanitation Mainline Pipe:
   • Located between 4.0 and 4.1
   • Backfilling and compacting in progress
   • Lifts consist of a mix of soil and fragmented rock, ranging from approximately 1-2 feet in depth
   • Small areas compacted with a trench-packer
   • Main area compacted with CP44 with vibration turned on
3. Depth of Soil Placed:
   • Soil placed around 4.1 was approximately 2-3 feet in depth for the first lift.  Lift thicknesses should be approximately 6 inches per lift
4. Backfilling Details:
   • Laterals opposite the future asphalt road backfilled with soil, approximately 1-2 feet in depth per lift (034-02)
   • Laterals under the future asphalt road backfilled with Graded Aggregate Base (GAB) for all lifts, ranging from 1-2 feet in depth (081-02, 082-02)
   • Water applied before compaction
5. Excavation:
   • Excavation began on the mainline between 4.1 and 4.2
6. Note:
   • Pipe and bedding installation had been previously completed and were not observed during this activity.

This update provides a comprehensive overview of the ongoing construction activities, including excavation work on the mainline between 4.1 and 4.2.
