Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services.  Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

• Observed the placement of 110 cubic yards of 3000 psi concrete and sampling performed for the retaining wall 9 footing (location shown in the pictures)
• The reinforcing steel was checked for correct size, number of bars, location of bars, spacing, cleanliness, support against displacement, splicing, clearance and steel grade. Based on visual observations and field measurements, the reinforcing steel at the retaining wall 9 footing (location shown in the pictures) appeared to be acceptable for size, spacing and quantity
• Sunbelt Paving placed approximately 6 inches of Cement Treated Base (CTB) from STA 1+00 to STA 3+00,
• The placement and compaction of backfill soils for retaining wall 9 and basement Lot #9, continued this day.
• At the time of arrival, our representative observed that work was in progress.  Lift thickness was not observed as soil was placed and compacted prior to arrival, compacted using sheeps-foot compaction equipment.
• Density test results indicate that the compacted materials met the project requirement of 90% of the maximum dry density obtained by the (Standard Proctor ASTM 698), 
• Note: contractor used topsoil material between manholes A1 and A2, which was wet.
