Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

A request was made for M10 sand density testing at vault #3, located next to the fire station. A Troxler 3430 (serial #38069) was utilized for testing, with QA and ATLNext personnel present on-site.

An Optimum Density-Moisture ratio (proctor) of 123.9 dry density (DD) and 9.9% moisture (M) was established. Given that this area will be designated as green space with no structures, 95% compaction is the required standard.

The testing results were as follows:

Northwest Side:

  • Test #1:
    • Dry Density: 114.1 DD
    • Moisture: 6.9% (fail)
    • Recommendation: Additional water and compaction
    • Retest #1:
      • Dry Density: 117.6 DD
      • Moisture: 9.0% (fail)

South Side:

  • Test #1:
    • Dry Density: 113.6 DD
    • Moisture: 7.1% (fail)
    • Recommendation: Add water and recompact
    • Retest #1:
      • Dry Density: 117.8 DD
      • Moisture: 6.5% (pass)

West Side:

  • Test #1:
    • Dry Density: 118 DD
    • Moisture: 4.9% (pass)

Following the testing and recommendations, no further observations or testing were conducted for the day.

Attached to this report are any relevant photos documenting the compaction testing process and the testing locations.
