Observations/Finding

At the request of the client’s representative, our AS ENGINEERING AND CONSULTING, LLC (ASEC) representative visited the job site to observe the contractor’s work activities from a quality standpoint to verify compliance with project drawings/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals and conducted QC testing per the project drawings and specifications.  The following observations were made on site this shift:

Upon arrival at the site, backfilling activities were underway for the sanitation sewer. Backfilling was being conducted in 2-foot lifts between manholes 4.8 and 4.9. Additionally, discussions were held with the foreman regarding the implementation of 6-inch lifts when using a trench packer, as depicted in the provided photo. Simultaneously, corrugated 18-inch storm drainpipes were being installed between AE1 and AE2 without the use of stone bedding. The manholes were sealed where metal corrugated pipes were present, as shown in the accompanying photos. Notably, compaction was not completed on the west side of AE1, with the foreman indicating it as a temporary measure.
