Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services.  Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

• Upon arrival, the contractor was engaged in excavations using a Komatsu PC 360LC west of the project site near the entrance to the job site. Fill was being transported with one tandem dump truck, while dozing was performed with a Komatsu D85EX. Compaction work was carried out using a CAT 563 E.  Backfilling with boulders fill was observed under the tennis court and Pickle Ball Court.
• Compaction testing was performed using a Troxler nuclear density gauge, along with general probing using a 3/8″ diameter probe rod on the Club house area, Visual Observation with Proof rolling is approved.
• Density test results indicate that compacted materials did not meet the project requirement of 95% of the maximum dry density obtained by a Standard Proctor ASTM 698.   However, due to the presence of boulder fill, proof-rolling was utilized instead of density testing to verify stability.
