Observations/Finding
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.
Nature walk: Footings Inspection (Lot #1013)
- A Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP) test was performed on all four sides of Lot #1013, revealing the presence of small stones and rocks, which resulted in auger refusal at relatively different depths.
- West Side: Auger refusal was encountered at a depth of 3 feet, with 10 blows at 1 foot and 11 blows at 2 feet. Refusal was followed by an offset at 2 feet, requiring 10 blows at 1 foot.
- South Side: Auger refusal was encountered at a depth of 3 feet, with 12 blows at 1 foot and 12 blows at 2 feet. Refusal was followed by an offset at 2 feet, requiring 9 blows at 1 foot.
- East Side: Auger refusal was encountered at a depth of 2 feet, with 06 blows at 1 foot. Refusal was followed by an offset at 1 foot with 06 Blows.
- North Side: Auger refusal was encountered at a depth of 2 feet, with 21 blows at 1 foot. Refusal was followed by an offset at 1 foot with 14 Blows.
These results indicate varying depths of auger refusal across the site, reflecting different subsurface conditions.
