Observations/Finding

The site was visited by the undersigned AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques wee employed to assure compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observation were made on site today.

1. The inspector observed the placement of the first compacted lift on the previously installed soil bridge located on lot #2-#3. Based on review of guidelines for fill placement, the required compaction for structural fill at the above mentioned area is 95% of a standard proctor. Based on visual observation and field measuring, the fill was placed in 10” thick lifts and compacted using a CAT 815 as well as a sheep’s foot. Based on density testing, the fill placed today at elevations between approximately 1083 at center of lot #3  was compacted according  to project specifications. See attached density test results for more details.
2. CGU requested that the onsite inspector visually observed the creek crossing across from lot 27-26 and inspect the bearing soil beneath the proposed RCP pipe between HW E20 and HW E10. No detail could be discovered through the provided structural drawing in regards to the bearing pressure or HW/pipe embedment procedures inside the creek crossing. The project engineer Ram Mogulla (ASEC) was contacted and a RFI was submitted to clarify the specification prior to the pipe installation.
