Daily Field Report
Observations/Finding
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of performing a visual foundation inspection to verify the building foundations (lift pits and continuous wall footings) soil bearing pressure. Testing was performed for the new Strickland Brothers 10 Minute Oil Change facility located at 800 Highway 61 in Villa Rica, Georgia.
Testing performed included Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP) testing along with general probing using a 3/8″ diameter probe rod. One (1) DCP test was performed in each of the three (3) lift pits and one (1) test was performed along the north wall continuous footing line, about halfway. Originally, the ground in the wall footings was too hard to hand auger due to the recent stretch of cold temperatures. Our representative had the contractor excavate down 1.5 feet in the center of the north wall and then performed our hand auger/DCP testing from that point. Results of our DCP testing are presented in the tables below.
Following all DCP testing and general probing, we found the subgrade within the continuous wall and lift pit foundations appears to be suitable to support a soil bearing pressure of 2,500 psf and, therefore, meets job specifications for design footing bearing pressures.
Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or require further clarification regarding this report.
