Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services.  Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

• Savannah Pipe Works: Next to Lot #995 the contractor began the excavation of the trench for the underground drilling and piping system to be installed beneath the main road. The trench was initially excavated using a Kobelco SK 350LC excavator, with a trench box sized at 14′ x 38′. During the excavation, rock boulders were encountered at different depths along the trench. At one end of the trench, rock was observed at a depth of 10’6″, while at the opposite end, the rock was found at a depth below 5’6″. The contractor will need to break up the rock. Once this is completed, the excavation work will proceed the following day.
