Daily Field Report
Observations/Finding
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.
Nature walk: Footings Inspection (Lot #65-Mono Slab Inspection)
A Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP) test was performed on two sides of Lot #65, revealing the presence of small stones and rocks, which resulted in auger refusal at relatively different depths.
- Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP) observations were recorded up to a depth of 4 feet below the ground surface, with the following details:
West Side: It can be noted that the area to the west of the job site corresponds to the front of the site.
Auger refusal was encountered at a depth of 1 foot, with an offset observed at 3 feet. Refusal was again encountered at 1 foot due to the presence of stone.
East Side: It can be noted that the area to the East of the job site corresponds to the Back of the site.
Auger refusal was encountered at a depth of 2 feet, with 10 blows at 1 foot. Refusal was followed by an offset at 3 feet.
Offset:
- At 1 foot: 08 blows (red clayey dirt with small rock observed)
- At 2 feet: 09 blows (red clayey dirt with small rock observed)
- At 3 feet: 11 blows (a mixture of red and brown clayey dirt with small rock observed)
- At 4 feet: 10 blows (a mixture of red and brown clayey dirt with small rock observed)
The probe appears to be in good condition rock Boulders and stones are seen in the backfill and probe area. Minor recommendations include removing dirt from the corners of the beam. The reinforcement appears to be in satisfactory condition.
