Daily Field Report
Observations/Finding
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.
Footings Inspection (Lot #34-Pod 23)
A Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP) test was performed on two sides of Lot #34-Pod 23.
- Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP) tests were recorded up to a depth of 4 feet below the ground surface, with the following details:
Southeast Side: It can be noted that the area to the southeast of the job site corresponds to the back of the site.
-
- At 1 foot: 06 blows (Reddish silty sand with clay)
- At 2 feet: 07 blows (Reddish silty sand with clay)
- At 3 feet: 08 blows (Reddish silty sand with clay)
- At 4 feet: 08 blows (Reddish silty sand with clay)
Northwest Side: It can be noted that the area to the northwest of the job site corresponds to the front of the site.
- At 1 foot: 06 blows (Reddish silty sand with clay)
- At 2 feet: 08 blows (Reddish silty sand with clay)
- At 3 feet: 08 blows (Reddish silty sand with clay)
- At 4 feet: 08 blows (Reddish silty sand with clay)
General probing found the footing subgrade soils to be soft in the upper 6 inches for the entire perimeter footing. We recommend that these soft soils be removed and replaced with concrete.
The reinforcement steel appears to meet job specifications for size, spacing and quantity.
