Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services.  Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

Heritage Pointe Villa Rica: Footings Inspection (Lot #66)

A Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP) test was performed on two sides of Lot #66, revealing the presence of small stones and rocks.

  • The Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP) observations were recorded to a depth of 3 feet, at which point the auger encountered refusal. An offset was taken, and the following are the recorded observations:

Northeast Side: It can be noted that the area to the northeast of the job site corresponds to the front of the site.

At Point A (Front), the following observations were recorded:

  • At 1 foot depth: 10 Blows (Mix of red and brownish clayey soil).
  • At 2 feet depth: 08 Blows (Traces of organic matter and stones observed within a grey soil matrix).
  • At 3 feet depth: The auger encountered refusal.

 Point (B) OFFSET:

    • At 1 foot: 08 blows (Mix of Red and Brownish Clayey soil observed)
    • At 2 feet: 10 blows (Traces of organic matter and stones with grey soil is observed)
    • At 3 feet: 06 blows (Traces of organic matter and stones with grey soil is observed)
    • At 4 feet: 06 blows (Traces of organic matter and stones with grey soil is observed)

The Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP) observations were recorded to a depth of 2 feet, at which point the auger encountered refusal. An offset was taken, and the following are the recorded observations:

At Point A (Back), the following observations were recorded:

  • At 1 foot depth: 08 Blows (Mix of red and brownish clayey soil).
  • At 2 feet depth: 09 Blows (Traces of organic matter and stones observed within a grey soil matrix).
  • At 3 feet depth: The auger encountered refusal.

 Point (B) OFFSET:

Southwest Side: It can be noted that the area to the southwest of the job site corresponds to the back of the site.

  • At 1 foot: 08 blows (Mix of Red and Brownish Clayey soil observed)
  • At 2 feet: 11 blows (Traces of organic matter and stones with grey soil is observed)
  • At 3 feet: 07 blows (Traces of organic matter and stones with grey soil is observed)
  • At 4 feet: 06 blows (Traces of organic matter and stones with grey soil is observed)

General probing found the surficial subgrade soils to be stable. We recommend test pits to further explore the underlying soils (some traces of organics were encountered in the footing inspection).

We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
