Observations/Finding

Our AS Engineering & Consulting (ASEC) representative arrived on site to observe field activities. The following tasks were performed:

The excavating and backfilling activities were performed throughout the day. The cut was from a nearby area and was performed by a 349E CAT Excavator whereas the hauling was performed using two heavy duty 745C tandem-axled dump trucks.  The fill was spread and compacted by a heavy duty 815F CAT compactor.

Compaction tests were performed using a nuclear density gauge. Overall, the results of density testing confirmed that fill compaction met the project and ASTM requirements. Results are attached in separate reports.
