Observations/Finding

On the above date our AS Engineering & Consulting representative was on site as requested and observed the grading contractor (Hodges) continue placing fill for the building pad. The contractor was running short on suitable fill for placement of the top two feet. The contractor excavated borrow materials from the toe of the east side slope embankment and began placement upon arrival to the site.  This material was observed having oversized rocks (6″to over 16″ in diameter) during placement with some trash debris and high moisture which would not be suitable for structural fill for building pad’s top two feet. This material was recommended to be pushed out and not used in the building pad.  The contractor is seeking an additional fill source to complete placement to finished subgrade.
