Daily Field Report
Observations/Finding
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.
Our ASEC representative was onsite as requested by the contractor (Willbanks) for the observation/testing of soil placement. Our representative observed a proof-roll for the approximate location of Lots #121, through #126. The proof-roll displayed not signs of severe pumping and/or rutting. A moisture content test of the fill placed was taken and found to be 20 to 23%. Fill was placed in approximately 8in lifts. The contractor was notified of the high moisture contents and recommended spreading the fill to allow it to aerate to approximately 15.5% (+/- 3%) moisture content. The contractor agreed and began placing fill in approximately 8in lifts on the proof rolled lots to allow it to dry before compaction. Compaction tests were approximately 86% for Lot #121. The contractor was recommended to allow ample time for drying, and to recompact the materials tomorrow to retest for compaction. Proof-rolling of Lot #33 was performed with of which no severe pumping/rutting was observed.
