Daily Field Report
Observations/Finding
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.
Our ASEC representative was on site as requested to observe exiting subgrade conditions for the installation of the sanitary sewer line near building Lots #14 thru #19. The subgrade soils present conditions are saturated with some ground water present during excavating. Grade stakes near an existing manhole shows a cut of three feet. Recommendations were made to:
- Undercut to design subgrade and re-observe.
2. Additional undercut may be required due to saturation of bedding for pipes and also sump pumps may be required.
3. Depending on utilities installation, on site broken concrete or blocks to a suitable size can be used to stabilize the bottom of the trench for pipe bedding capped with a sufficient amount of specified bedding materials. All excavations and stabilization should be observed by the on-site technician. Our representative also observed the subgrade bedding for the 48″ RCP storm line from OCS in east side pond at the location for the anti-seep collar. The subgrade soils should be suitable at the design elevation.
