Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services.  Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

Our ASEC representative was on site as requested to observe the grading contractor continue undercut of saturated topsoils at the roadway between station 11+50 and 19+25.  The contractor also continued fill placement at the building lots using soil materials from an off-site borrow.  The hauled in soil materials appeared to be loaded from two different stockpiles having one load dry and one load wet. The grading contractor and dirt broker at borrow pit was informed of moisture conditions which could affect next day placement requiring aeration to place additional lifts. The writer also performed density tests for the building lots using a Troxler nuclear gauge model 3430, serial no. 38069.
