Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services.  Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

Our ASEC representative was on site as requested by the contractor (Wilbanks) for the observation/testing of the placement of soils. The technician observed the contractor place 1 lift approximately 8 inches in thickness over lots #33 – #37, #122- #125, and partially on the lots #112- #116.  Fill materials tested were found to be much higher than optimum moisture content and was left to aerate in place to reduce in-situ moistures prior to compaction.

The technician observed the installation of SSMH 1.0B at the approximate elevation of 745.9. The excavation was approximately 4 feet, and was backfilled with approximately 3 feet of riprap, and capped with approximately 1 foot of No. 57 stone to elevation. The contractor then began backfilling around SSMH1.0A and SSMH1.0B.

The contractor bladed all topsoil off Lots #29 – #32 and our ASEC representative performed a proof roll. There were no signs of severe pumping and/or rutting.

All test results were provided to the contractor.
