Observations/Finding
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.
A proof-roll was requested by the Stonewood Phase 4 owner for the cul-de-sac area, as this section was not completed during the previous day’s operations. The foreman from Upstate Curb and Paving was present during the evaluation.
Upon inspection, it was determined that all areas proof-rolled were found acceptable with the exception of one section, approximately 12 feet x 20 feet x 6 inches deep. The deficient area was remediated by removing soft/loose soils and replacing with Graded Aggregate Base (GAB). The GAB was then compacted using a ride-on smooth drum vibratory roller to achieve compaction.
It was indicated that an additional proof-roll would be required once all GAB placement is complete, prior to asphalt paving, which will occur at a future date.
