Observations/Finding

As requested, an ASEC representative visited the site to provide quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with the project drawings, specifications, applicable codes, and approved material submittals.

Observations Made During the Site Visit:

• The placement and compaction of fill soils continued this day for the following areas:

  • Storm trench between MHB1 and MHB2.

  • Sewer trench between the existing manhole and the front of the building.

  • Storm trench between MHC0, MHC1, and MHC2.

• Upon arrival, our representative observed ongoing work. Fill was being placed in 1-foot lifts and compacted using trench compaction equipment.

• During compaction, the compactor experienced mechanical issues (“turning over”). As a result, the contractor temporarily cancelled the compaction activities and informed our representative that work would resume once the compactor was repaired.
