Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services.  Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

• Backfill Delay Due to Moisture Content:
  The contractor canceled the scheduled backfill for the retaining wall due to rainfall the previous day, resulting in a moisture content of 30%. This moisture level exceeded the specified range, necessitating the delay.

• Test Pits for Rock Depth:
  Test pits were performed to determine the depth of rock for the next building’s foundation. A total of 10 test pits were excavated, revealing rock at varying depths:

  • Test Pit 1: 6 feet

  • Test Pit 2: 3 feet

  • Test Pit 3: 3 feet

  • Test Pit 4: 4 feet

  • Test Pit 5: 5 feet

  • Test Pit 6: 6 feet

  • Test Pit 7: 5 feet

  • Test Pit 8: 6 feet

  • Test Pit 9: 4 feet

  • Test Pit 10: 4 feet
