Daily Field Report
Observations/Finding
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.
On the above date, the technician was onsite as requested by the contractor (Fulcrum) for the observation/testing of soils.
The contractor (Buck) showed the technician an electrical conduit trench on the south and southeast side of main building. The trench appeared to be approximately 1 to 2 feet in depth. The contractor had begun placing fill in the trench and requested the technician to visually inspect and to verify stability if possible. The fill mostly consisted of very large pieces of blasted rock. The technician was unable to conduct any density testing due to large, rocky materials being used to backfill this trench. The technician recommended that the contractor remove the blasted rock and backfill with either No. 57 stone or suitable fill. There is a possibility that the blasted rock fragments will damage the conduit if the contractor attempts to compact this area with heavy compaction equipment. The contractor agreed will retain a copy of our report (included with photos) for their records.
