Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

Our ASEC representative was on site as requested to observe proof-rolling of roadway subgrades using a loaded tandem dump truck with 18 t0ns of stone making two passes over all areas.  The subgrade soils at roadway C appeared stable under traffic except isolated areas noted below.  The deficient areas were recommended for repair by undercutting and replacing with additional base stone. The first recommendation was to replace with dry compacted soils, however, the contractor stated there was no available dry soils on site. Deficient areas noted were: (1.30′ x 5′ x 6″), (2.30′ x 4′ x 6″), (3.20′ x 10′ x 6″), (4.12′ x 4′ x 6″), (5.95′ x 20′ x 3′) (repair starts at 4″water line repair) and (6.108′ x 15′ x 2.5′).  Stabilization fabric and baby surge stone will be used in the deeper areas. The writer also observed repairs performed at the roadway D cul-de-sac with an average depth of (36″ x 90′ x 25′).

We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
