Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services.  Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

Our representative performed two check plugs on what appeared to be two separate materials that had been placed and compacted on the roadways of the jobsite. The materials were found to be different in color but very similar materials otherwise. We found that the two check plug densities were virtually the same and did not match one of the moisture-density relationships for the project. Roadway testing for compaction began using a field proctor and with the nuclear density gauge. Four (4) roadway tests and 2 tests on Lot #94 were tested. A proof-roll was also performed where 2 to 6 feet of fill had been placed. One soft spot was identified and relayed to the contractor who corrected this area (approximately 4 feet x 7 feet).
