Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services.  Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

Our ASEC representative was on site as requested by the contractor (Wilbanks) for the observation/testing of the placement of fill/backfill.  Due to equipment break down, there was not much progress of fill being placed from the previous workday. The contractor also had a GPS malfunction which slowed progress even further. The technician spoke with the contractor, and there was no testing that was required at this time. The technician notified the contractor that he was leaving the site, and if the contractor needed the technician to come back, then the technician would be back later that afternoon.

It appeared that the contractor had brought Lots #166 through #168 up to near final elevation, but without GPS, they could not finalize the grade in this area. The compaction appeared to be very low, so the technician will wait until the contractor compacts and final grades determined prior to testing this area.

The technician did not receive any notification for a testing request.
