Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services.  Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

Our ASEC representative was on site as requested and observed the grading contractor continue backfilling for the trench for the storm line using a 349E excavator. After the pipe was placed, backfilling was performed using the same excavator. Compaction was performed in two steps; the lower lift was compacted using the trench roller while the last two lifts were compacted by a sheep-foot roller.

Compaction and moisture tests were carried out by driving rings and the results are presented in the density report.

A check plug test was performed to check the moisture content of the soils used to place fill on the lots. The moisture content was found to be close to optimum moisture content.  Density tests were performed using a Troxler nuclear gauge model3430, serial no. 38069.  Results are attached.
