Daily Field Report
Observations/Finding
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials
submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.
Our ASEC representative was on site as requested by the contractor for the observation/testing of the placement of fill/backfill and observation of drilling.
The contractor continued placing fill in roadway leading up to the bridge. The fill was placed in approximately 2 ft lifts. Fill material consisted of blasting material and rocks were approximately 1 ft to 2 ft in diameter. As the contractor compacted the lifts with a sheep-foot roller, it appears to be breaking down the rocks. The contractor also placed approximately 1 ft of finer material fill to fill rock voids. Our ASEC representative watched as loaded dump trucks drove across the compacted lifts. No severe pumping/rutting was observed.
The contractor continued placing pipe in SSMH pipeline 9A. No backfilling/compaction will happen until next week.
The drilling crew drilled 94 holes in a 7×7 grid pattern to approximately 18 ft in depth. Drilling continued west bound, up the slope side of previous days drilling. A picture of the drill log is attached to this report. No blasting took place on this day.
We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
