Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services.  Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

Our ASEC representative arrived on site and waited for the NOVA and Atlanta Paving inspectors to arrive to observe proof-rolling of the soil cement for the runway. At 9:38am the other inspectors arrived, and the proof-roll commenced. Some pumping/rutting was observed and was marked. Three (3) areas were marked in green and were proof-rolled again. Tony with CW Mattews followed behind to see what the concerns were. Tony told me that he would be undercutting this section in order to remove soft/unstable soils. Both the Atlanta Paving and NOVA technician recommended adding water. Tony told me again that he would be undercutting this area regardless.
