Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services.  Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals.

At the request of Brad from C.W. Matthews, ASEC was asked to perform density testing on the finished grade of recycled concrete that had been placed and compacted on the Alpha ramp. It was noted that the placement activities were not observed by ASEC personnel.

Two (2) nuclear density tests were performed using a Troxler 3430 gauge (Serial #38069). Both tests yielded compaction results of 97%, which do not meet the project requirement of 100% compaction.

Test results were provided to C.W. Matthews on site at the time of testing. No remediation efforts were observed or reported following the test failures.
