Daily Field Report
Observations/Finding
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.
Our ASEC representative was on site for the observation/testing of the placement of fill/backfill. The contractor continued excavation of the northwest pond area and placing blasted rock material in approximately 1-foot lifts across Lots #22 through #25. The blasted rock lifts were mixed with a finer soil to help fill voids. It appears as the 815 sheep-foot roller is compacting the lifts, that the size of the rock is breaking down. ASEC periodically checked the lifts with a probe rod and also watched as loaded off road dump trucks roll over the lifts to check for stabilization. There were no signs of severe pumping or rutting. ASEC spoke with Daniel (NG Grading) about the diameter of the rock blast being placed as the lifts continue to get closer to final grade. Daniel and our representative agreed that the larger rock (larger than 1 foot in diameter) should be used in deep fill areas exceeding 8 to 10 feet. Hopefully there will be no issues with rock during final grading/pipe installation. The contractor is fixing a couple of issues that were addressed during the inspection for the 7-day letter.
We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
