Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

Our ASEC representative was on site for the observation/testing of the placement of fill/backfill. The contractor continued placement of fill in approximately 6-inch lifts along the back and edge of Lots #3 and #4. ASEC performed density testing approximately every 2 feet and provided all test results to the contractor. ASEC watched as loaded dump trucks rolled across the compacted lifts. There were no signs of severe pumping or rutting.

ASEC performed a field proctor for the structural fill being excavated from the pond area and placed along these lots. The field proctor showed an approximately maximum dry density of 100.0 pcf at approximately 18.5% optimum moisture content. ASEC is confirming this with a lab proctor for this same material. The pipe crew started boring under Philadelphia Road to the other side of the street. During this time, ASEC noticed there was a large void under the gas main that runs alongside the road in the deceleration lane. ASEC pointed this out to the pipe crew and recommended that they fill this void before backfilling the deceleration lane. The pipe crew agreed and filled the void. Density testing was performed around the BC1 and BC2 structures as the contractor backfilled this area. All test results were provided to the contractor.

We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
