Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services.  Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

On the above date our representative was on site to observe subgrade repair at the west half of the roadway on Hawthorne. The paving contractor had cancelled work activities for today. The writer observed the clipped repaired sub grade by probing using a rounded end steel rod and measuring depth checks for pavement thickness.  Design depth measurements ranged from 9″ to 14″ which was suitable for job plans and specifications. The repair area must be also observed by a proof-roll. Spoke with the contractor by phone and reminded him of contamination of subbase stone with underlying subbase soils would not be acceptable.

We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
