Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

Summary of Activities:

1. GAB Placement – South Lane (Previously Proof-Rolled Area)
Placement of Graded Aggregate Base (GAB) continued along the south lane of the Main Parkway Extension within the area previously proof-rolled. Work progressed but placement was not completed, and therefore no field density testing was performed.
Water was applied to the GAB, and compaction operations utilized a smooth drum ride-on vibratory roller.

2. Utility Trench Excavation and Backfill – North End Near Future Bridge
In a separate location along the Parkway Extension, a trench was excavated across the main road and at the cul-de-sac side road, located near the planned bridge location.
Following pipe installation (see photo), approximately 25 inches of backfill was required to bring the trench to future road grade.

The first lift of backfill was placed and compacted using a trench packer. A light rain began at 2:30 PM, potentially affecting soil moisture conditions.
The final lift of backfill was not observed during this inspection period.
