Daily Field Report
Observations/Finding
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.
On the above date our representative observed the grading contractor Thompson Grading excavate three exploratory test pits north of the creek for bridge construction at embankment using an excavator/backhoe. The following results were observed:
Test Pit #1 was excavated to a depth of approximately six (6) feet below existing ground elevation (771.55) where residual hard rock was encountered at elevation (766.25).
Test Pit #2 was excavated to a depth of approximately eight (8) feet below existing ground elevation (771.18) where residual hard rock was encountered at elevation (763.78).
Test Pit #3 was excavated to a depth of approximately eleven (11) feet below existing ground elevation (770.53) where excavatable residual weathered rock was encountered at elevation (759.42).
Notes: 1. Test Pit #1 was located at the east side embankment. Test Pit #2 was located at the center of excavations. Test Pit #3 was located at the west side of embankment. No groundwater was encountered at the bottom of the excavations during observation.
We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
