Daily Field Report
Observations/Finding
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials
submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.
Our ASEC representative was on site to observe the contractor (NG Grading) and for the observation/testing of the placement of fill/backfill. Contractor continued placing fill in the commercial lot by the front detention pond. This area is approaching final grade. Our representative watched as loaded trucks rolled across the lifts to check for stability. Any areas where pumping or deflecting were present were addressed by the contractor. It appears the pumping areas are in high traffic zones from the loaded trucks driving across the natural ground. There was no severe pumping present within these fill areas.
The contractor continued removal of topsoil in the area between Lots #13 and #20. This area was proof-rolled with a loaded off-road truck. Probe rod testing was performed during the proof-roll for an additional check. The contractor excavated approximately 1 to 2 feet in any fill areas with less than 10 feet of fill. In areas that exceed 10 feet of fill, it was recommended to place an approximate 2-foot thickened lift and then begin structural filling as per job specifications. The contractor placed approximately 1 foot of crushed concrete and then placed an approximate 2-foot thickened lift as recommended. At this time, there is no density testing needed, and this area will be tested once the contractor places approximately 2 feet of compacted material over the thickened lift.
The pipe crew is installing storm line in a greenspace located by the front entrance of the site.
The wall crew is onsite and unloading wall materials/equipment. The contractor has begun clearing the footing for the wall crew. ASEC will have a DCP truck onsite tomorrow to begin bearing pressure testing for the footings.
We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
