Daily Field Report
Observations/Finding
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.
At Pond 1, the crew installed two precast concrete header structures using a hydraulic excavator and aligned them to the approximate design location. Due to forecasted rainfall, approximately 2 to 2.5 feet of soil was placed as temporary backfill around the headers and adjacent stormwater pipes to sal off the area. The contractor stated that this material will be removed and reworked on the next working day and placed in controlled lifts in accordance with project specifications. No density testing was performed in this area due to excessive lift thickness.
From foundation wall to DS3 916, the crew placed temporary fill up to approximately 2 to 2.5 feet thick to raise grade and stabilize the area ahead of anticipated rainfall. The material was compacted for temporary conditions only. The contractor indicated that this material will be removed and reinstalled in controlled lifts on the next working day. Density testing was not performed due to excessive lift thickness. It is recommended that all temporary fill be removed or scarified, moisture conditioned as needed and recompacted in controlled lifts not exceeding 6 to 8 inches loose thickness prior to acceptance testing.
We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
