Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials
submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

Our ASEC representative was on site to observe the contractor (NG Grading) and for the observation/testing of the placement of fill/backfill. The contractor continued placing soil lifts of approximately 8 to 12 inches in size across Lots #14 through #26. Lifts were compacted using a sheep-foot roller. Density testing was performed, and test results were provided to the contractor. ASEC watched as loaded trucks rolled across the lift to check for stability. There were no signs of severe pumping or deflection present.

The contractor and wall crew excavated the footing of retaining wall #3 to grade. ASEC conducted DCP testing in the footing of the wall and offset points within the geo grid length of the wall. DCP testing showed lower bearing capacity than the required specification for the design of the wall. The wall crew was informed that the footing did not pass DCP testing. The wall crew left for the day. Test results were evaluated to determine the best remediation for achieving the specified bearing capacity.

The pipe crew started installing sewer lines in the greenspace slope of detention pond #2. Once the pipe crew enters into structural areas, testing will be performd.
