Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

Work continued at location B1–B2, where backfilling operations were resumed around the previously installed structures. Backfill material was placed in lifts of approximately 6–8 inches, and each lift was compacted. Upon completion of backfilling to the appropriate elevation, two manhole risers were installed on top of the structure to raise it to the finished grade. The risers were aligned and sealed with concrete.

At the same time, the other crew continued work at location A3. Backfilling operations were performed around the installed structure by placing soil in lifts of approximately 6–8 inches and compacted. After reaching the required elevation, a precast concrete lid was placed on top of the structure. The joint between the structure and the lid was sealed using butyl mastic tape. The work was completed in accordance with the project specifications.
