Daily Field Report
Observations/Finding
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials
submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.
Our ASEC representative was on site to observe the contractor (NG Grading) and for the observation/testing of the placement of fill/backfill.
The grading crew spent the day hauling soil to the wall crew on retaining wall #5 and to greenspace/slopes located along retaining walls #3 and #4. The contractor appears to still have multiple pieces of equipment broken down. The contractor is placing the final 2 feet of soil across Lots #52 and #53. Density testing will be performed on the next available workday, once the contractor has reached final grade.
The wall crew continued installation of retaining wall #5. The contractors are spreading soil lifts of approximately 8 to 12 inches across the wall. The lifts were compacted using a vibrating sheep-foot roller and a trench roller. The contractors appear to be properly installing the geogrid and fabric to the specification of the wall. Density testing was performed, and test results were provided to the contractor. The grading crew has sent multiple loads of fill that contained a large amount of rock. It was requested by ASEC and the wall contractors to stop sending fill from that part of the cut, and to attempt to remove any large rock. The wall contractors are picking out most of the rock. The soil is coming from multiple excavation locations.
The pipe crew continued installation of storm line along curb near Lots #18 through #22. Density testing was performed on the storm line that passes through roadway (as mentioned in previous report).
The contractors are all planning on shutting down early to prep the site for rain scheduled in the forecast later this evening.
We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
