Daily Field Report
Observations/Finding
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials
submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.
Our ASEC representative was on site to observe the contractor (NG Grading) and for the observation/testing of the placement of fill/backfill. Upon arrival to the site, it was clear that the site was very saturated from the previous night’s rainfall. The grading crew superintendent pushed to attempt to work and place structural fill today. ASEC recommended to remove approximately 8 to 12 inches of soft soils prior to placing fill. The contractors removed the soil from Lots #4 and #5. ASEC watched as a loaded off-road truck rolled across the lift to check for stability. Proof-rolling displayed severe pumping and the superintendent was called back to the site to view the site conditions. It was determined that the site was far too wet to place any structural fill. The contractors removed another approximately 12 to 24 inches of soil from this area and left it to aerate until tomorrow. The contractor will only be working on slopes and greenspace areas for the rest of the day.
The pipe crew shut down for the day, and the wall crew was not present on site at this time.
We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
