Daily Field Report
Observations/Finding
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.
On the above date our representative was on site to observe the pipe contractor (Savanna) begin excavating to install a 48″ RCP outlet pipe between the OCS structure and headwall #3. As recommended, the contractor undercut existing sandy silt soils to replace with clay-based soils. The undercut was extended -2′ beneath bottom of design elevation for the pipe into residual materials. The undercut soils were replaced with suitable compacted clay base soils. The contractor set headwall structure #3 placed on filter fabric and begin laying a 48″ RCP outlet line from the headwall toward the OCS structure in which the pipe was bedded on suitable compacted clay base soils.
The Pipe contractor also continued backfilling 8″ sanitary sewer line between manhole structures # 14 and 16 filling from elevation -8′ to -4′. Compacting efforts were observed by probing using a rounded end steel rod. Compacting efforts appeared acceptable for site requirements.
The Grading contractor continued placing fill for building Lots #57, 58, 61, 62 and 32 through 34. The fill was placed in compacted lifts using a dozer, a vibratory sheep-foot roller and an 815-cat sheep-foot roller. Compacting efforts were found to meet job specifications.
We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
